Music is an important catalyst for cultural development that conveys stories, traditions, and experiences.
Our Mission
The history of Manchester Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is long and storied. Founded in 1939, MSO provides high quality musical performances while serving as a cornerstone for the rich culture of performing arts in North Manchester, Wabash County, and the region.
Why the Need
For many years, Manchester University has provided a conductor for the symphony, the performance venue, and other in-kind services.
In December, 2022, Manchester University reorganized several departments and positions, including the Conductor for the Symphony.
Starting in the 2024-2025 season, the University will no longer underwrite the Conductor.
Thankfully, the University and Symphony have entered into a transition agreement, giving the Symphony time to forge its own future and operate from a position of self-directed sustainability.
To provide the quality performances that our patrons and the community have come to expect, MSO envisions hiring a Conductor and part-time Executive Director.
The Executive Director will carry out strategies that will move MSO into our future and Toward New Horizons.
The Future of Music
For us to meet these new opportunities, we need to raise additional sponsorships and donations of more than $75,000 annually. This campaign will raise an added $225,000 over the next three years.
These funds will provide the bridge as we transition into new financial demands that the future will require.
